CT CHEST MIPS PROTOCOL
To Whom It May Concern:

Revised Policy Effective: Immediately
Policy change in regards to CAT Scans (CT) of the Chest With and/or Without Contrast. This change will affect both interpreting radiologists and performing technologists.
Patients with a current diagnosis, a follow-up diagnosis, or any history of:
● Pulmonary Nodules
● Cancer
● Suspected Nodules in the Chest
An Axial MIPS (Maximum Intensity Projection) series should be performed in addition to the standard sequences. MIPS sections should have a 2 mm spacing with a 15 mm thickness.
➣The primary clinical application of MIPS is to improve the detection of pulmonary nodules. MIPS also helps characterize the distribution of small nodules.
